The Powell Center has assembled links to many websites that focus on personal finance news and information, economic-related government departments and issues, the financial industry and more. This is by no means a final list. These are just a few links that we like and use on a regular basis.

BIZWORLD BizWorld provides schools with hands-on programs, for use in grades 3 through 8, designed to add a practical aspect to academics while improving the understanding of entrepreneurship and money management.
Bureau of Economic Analysis The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) promotes a better understanding of the U.S. economy by providing the most timely, relevant, and accurate economic data in an objective and cost-effective manner. This is a great website for raw, statistical macroeconomic data.
Bureau of Labor Statistics The Bureau of Labor Statistics is the principal fact-finding agency for the Federal Government in the broad field of labor economics and statistics. This is a great tool for mining unbiased macroeconomic data.
Bureau of the Census All the demographic information about the United States a student or teacher could ever want or need. A great supplementary resource for class projects.
Choose to Save ASEC seeks to make saving and retirement planning a priority for all Americans. They educate the public about financial security through a coalition of major public- and private-sector partners.
Conference Board The Conference Board creates and disseminates knowledge about management and the marketplace to help businesses strengthen their performance and better serve society. This is a great resource for projections about the future of the economy.
Econ Ed Link Utilizing the resources of the National Council on Economic Education, this site is an excellent source of classroom tested, Internet-based lesson materials for K-12 teachers and their students. Many of these lessons are affiliated with the Powell Center.
EconData Net This site has 1,000 links to socioeconomic data sources, arranged by subject and provider, pointers to the Web's premiere data collections, and their list of the ten best sites for finding regional economic data.
Economic Education Web-Omaha Online economics lessons that address National and Nebraska Social Studies/Economics Standards for all levels and content areas. If you know the concept you want to teach, start from the K-5 concepts list or the 6-12 concepts list. Materials from which to create additional lessons are available from the Virtual Economics Companion.

Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) preserves and promotes public confidence in the U.S. financial system by insuring depositors for at least $250,000 per insured bank. By identifying, monitoring and addressing risks to the deposit insurance funds, the work to limit the effect on the larger economy and the financial system when a bank or thrift institution fails. Through its website, the FDIC seeks to promote economic and financial literacy.
Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond One of 12 banks that make up the nation's central banking system, serving the Fifth District: Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and most of West Virginia. Website provides links to economic data and economic education resources for students and teachers.
Federal Reserve Education The Federal Reserve System's economic education portal is packed with information and resources on economics and personal finance. Links are provided to interactive learning activities and games, as well as each individual Reserve Bank's education site.

Financial Fitness for Life This companion to the print version of Financial Fitness for Life provides interactive online activities that teach younger students the ABC's of managing money, all while they learn to read and add and subtract. Moreover, it enhances middle school students' awareness of the world by imparting knowledge about the global economy in the present day, and helps high school students set goals and make realistic plans for their futures.

Kids Econ Posters KidsEcon Posters is a curriculum project of the Indiana Council for Economic Education. At the heart of the project are 22 colorful economic posters, each describing an important economic concept. The site also includes links to literature and other activities to accompany the posters.
National Bureau of Economic Research Founded in 1920, the National Bureau of Economic Research is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization dedicated to promoting a greater understanding of how the economy works. The NBER is committed to undertaking and disseminating unbiased economic research among public policymakers, business professionals, and the academic community. This website has links to thought-provoking essays on a variety of economic topics as well as a great deal of economic data.
National Council on Economic Education The National Council on Economic Education (NCEE) is a nationwide network that promotes economic literacy with students and their teachers. Through this site, you can order various publications and see sample lessons to help teach economics to students.
National Schools Committee for Economic Education A Non-profit foundation devoted to publications and programs in economics education for elementary school and middle school students, teachers and home schooling parents, including Capitalism for Kids, and I, Pencil, and several other great publications.
Office of the Comptroller of the Currency The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) maintains a variety of public information about the national banking system.
